The Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1173 »Wave phenomena: analysis and numerics« connects fundamental research and scientists from the KIT Department of Mathematics, researchers from optics and photonics, biomedical engineering, applied geographics works and researchers from the universities of Stuttgart and Tübingen. Wave phenomena are abundant in nature, as light and sound, as human heartbeat and as electromagnetic waves in most modern communications. Their modeling, analysis, and simulation are essential for scientific and technological progress in many areas.
