Dr. Dwaipayan Chatterjee has obtained his PhD from the University of Cologne in 2024, working at
the interface of artificial intelligence, mathematics, and meteorology. For his thesis, he applied self-
supervised deep learning approaches to mesoscale cloud structures and their transitions using satellite
and ground-based observations. His work involved building and adapting large-scale self-supervised
deep learning models for uncurated geostationary satellite data, focusing on improving
the synergy between cloud system representations and ground-based observations.
